Utilizing Your Gifts, Talents and Abilities

February 25, 2018

C. Renee McLain, CSC, CLC

Some children know exactly what they want to be when they grow up. Over time, however, things change. Children grow up into adults and after high school and college, they have been exposed to new things since they were children. Then the real world sets in. Student loans have to be paid, weddings occur, rent and mortgages have to be paid and children, let’s just say, are expensive.

The unemployment rate is at an all time low; however, very few college graduates are working in the field that they actually studied for and for which they have obtained degrees – about 27%. Yes, college grads are working, and although some are working in their chosen field, some are working in other fields where opportunities were presented, and some are underemployed, working to make ends meet.

We all have innate gifts, talents and abilities. Some people can naturally sing well and may have never taken singing lessons. Some are very good with numbers and can solve complex math problems in which others can only look on with admiration and amazement. Some people are extremely organized and others super creative. There are those who cook exceptionally well. The list goes on and on.

What are you naturally good at? Hone in on those skills and create additional opportunities for yourself, in addition to your current career. It is a good thing to have more than one stream of income. It may start out as a hobby at first, but if you love to cook and are good at it, consider doing some catering. You never know where it could lead you.

Seek within and realize what fulfills you and makes your juices flow. What are you passionate about? You’ll be surprised of the hidden talent lying dormant. Awaken those gifts, talents and abilities and excel! The sky is the limit!

A New Year for New Opportunities

January 16, 2018

C. Renee McLain, CSC, CLC

What is it that you have been putting on the back burner for the past few weeks, months or years? A new year is a time to pull those items to the forefront and begin or continue what you started.

Is it a book you started, but never completed? Let this be the year you determine to finish it. Set a deadline, and based on that deadline, schedule on your calendar time to write each day or each week. Be sure to stick to your writing schedule. Reach out to a friend or colleague to serve as your accountability partner so that you are not alone in this endeavor.

Have you considered changing careers, but not sure where to start? Reach out to a Career Coach to get the ball rolling and gain clarity in exploring the possibilities based upon your unique interests, skills and passion.

Is this the year you become a Corporatepreneur? You love your career and want to continue to excel in it, but you also have a desire to start a business. Have you done the research on the type of business and the required investment? Do you need to take classes or reach out to a similar business owner to learn more about it?

Do you want to complete your advanced educational goals this year? Choose a schedule that works for you, either in the classroom or online.

Whatever that burning desire is in your heart, GO FOR IT! Be determined; equip yourself and JUST DO IT!

Giving Thanks - What Are You Thankful For?

November 19, 2017

C. Renee McLain, CSC, CLC

In the past several years, it seems like we go from Halloween to Christmas, without much emphasis on the Thanksgiving Holiday. Holidays have become so commercialized that it seems we forget to stop, reflect and be thankful for what we already have.

Thanksgiving can serve as that time of reflection. It’s that time towards the end of the year, when we can take inventory of goals accomplished, answered prayers and new connections and relationships made over the course of the year. We can see how far we’ve come, in yet another year we have been blessed to be alive and well and functional. Thanksgiving can serve as a time to give thanks to our Heavenly Father and those who have made a significant impact in our lives during the year.

At Thanksgiving, we can ponder the progress of the year thus far, and look forward to what lies ahead and be thankful for it all. If challenges have occurred, we can take the lessons learned and move on to greater in the upcoming year. If it’s been an awesome year, we can look ahead for more awesomeness to occur next year.

Whatever you do this week on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day 2017, whether it’s a big family dinner, an intimate dinner at home, a feast at a restaurant or nothing special at all, be sure to take some time to reflect on all the wonderful things that have transpired this year, and all of your heart’s desire for the forthcoming year, and be thankful, faithfully knowing that the best is still yet to come!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Encourage, Enlighten, Empower

October 23, 2017

C. Renee McLain, CSC, CLC

CEO - Chief Encouragement Officer

I had a conversation with a friend of mine some time ago regarding a job search. I was a Recruiter at the time, and I told her my background is in Human Resources and Administration; however, I know that I am called to Encourage, Enlighten and Empower.

Interestingly, a short time after that, I heard a prominent entertainer speaking, and he said, “Your career is what you are paid to do, but your calling is what you are made to do”. I found that really intriguing based on my previous conversation with my friend, and I began to ponder, why not merge the career and the calling; hence, I am now a Certified Life Coach & Career Strategist. I Encourage, Enlighten and Empower others in the various areas and stages of their lives, equipping them with the proper tools to develop and excel in reaching their fullest potential in matters of Career Strategy, Professional Development, Time Management & Organization, Personal Development and more.

I believe when you are doing what you are called to do as your career, you are doing what you love, and it doesn’t seem like a job, but more like an adventure. You look forward to working on the next project and with the next client. You are excited about making an impact in the lives of those you are called to serve. I enjoy meeting new people and seeing how I can be of assistance to them. Sometimes it is a simple tweaking of their resumes and other times, it may be revamping a number of things in their professional and personal lives. Whatever the case, I am always up for the challenge and ready to embark on my next assignment.

If you are looking for someone to Encourage, Enlighten and Empower you to go to the next level in your endeavors, look no further. I am very interested in speaking with you to develop a plan for your continual success.
